Welcome to Deadhorse Creek Market. We are a Farmers Market offering a wide variety of farm fresh products and country crafts. Bill and Ava Hawthorn are the fourth generation on our family farm, where we raise cattle, sheep, wheat, and alfalfa. Ava is a master gardener and a master canner!
Located along Deadhorse Creek, just 8 miles west of Chadron, Nebraska, we invite you to take an evening drive and see deer, turkey, and other wildlife along with the ever-changing farm landscape as you come out. Turn south off Hwy 20 at our sign and go 1/2 mile south and 1/4 mile east and you will be at our market site.
We feature a 1/2 acre chemical-free garden with almost every
vegetable that will grow in Northwest Nebraska available in season. You are
welcome to stroll through our garden and sip a glass of free iced tea as you sit
and relax in our flower and water gardens. Cut flowers will also be
available to grace your table as you enjoy your meals with our farm fresh
products.
A special treat at any meal is fresh fried chicken and we will feature whole frying chickens and eggs when available as well a federally inspected hamburger. You may complete your meal with a wide variety of homemade jellies, honey, and homemade pie.
Our newly completed building will also feature many country craft items by talented local artisans. These would make a welcome addition to your home as well as wonderful gifts.
You
are encouraged to stay and visit with other people at our market and maybe even
play a game of horseshoes or checkers if you want. We look
forward to meeting and getting acquainted with you. This type of direct
marketing offers a great opportunity for us to meet the consumers of our
products as well as giving you the opportunity to actually meet the people who
are producing your food!
Our market season begins the third Thursday in June and is open every Thursday through the third Thursday of October. Our hours are from 5:00pm - 8:00 pm in June, July and August and from 1:00pm - 6:00 pm in September and October.
